You should get the parents guide because it tells you more then the instructions, but how they develop so early, etc.

Here are the instructions from my guide:
    MONTH 1
*Watch the starter video twice a day (u can get the starter video if you purchase the starter book with the slide-out sides, the starter is included… I did this during breakfast and dinner) reduce or eliminate all other TV viewing
*play with the starter sliding word cards for a few minutes at a time several times a day
*read the starter book aloud with your child daily. be sure to point to each word as you say it, and have fun!
*show the specified set of Starter DVD words to your child on the double sided word cards

    MONTH 2 AND 3
*watch the Volume 1 dvd twice a day for 2 months (which you have so this would actually be your first month if you dont purchase the starter)
*watch the starter DVD a few times each week
*play with the starter and Volume 1 sliding word cards daily
*read the starter and volume 1 books daily
*add the volume 1 words to your list. show your child the words in a fun interactive game-like manner

    MONTHS 4 AND 5
*watch volume 2 DV twice a day
*watch the starter and volume 1 dvds a few times a week
    * read the starter, volume 1 and 2 books daily
*play with cards relating with starter, Volume 1 and 2 dvds
    *continue playing word games

    MONTH 6
*watch volume 3 twice a day
    * watch previous videos few times a week
*read volume 3 and all other books daily
    *play with cards daily
    * play word games

    MONTH 7
*watch review dvd, since the review dvd is longer you may break it into 2 or more sessions
*watch volume 3 several times a week, occasionally review the other dvds
*play and read books and sliding cards daily

We all love the program…. I met Dr. Titzer when Leonidas was 3 months old, and he said that at 3 months when babies can see, focus, and recognize is the perfect time. So, I started following the instructions on how to play the video and did it twice a day, morning and afternoon, and when bedtime came at 7pm we always read to him. At 7 months old he recognized the words here’s a clip and you can google: LEONIDAS READS or go on youtube and search LEONIDAS READS

He is now 17 months and talks and acts very mature for his age. He STILL watches the video everyday and in the car (its only 30 minutes and he doesnt have to be totally focused and glued to it, the background noise is better than having other crap thats now on t.v. he doesnt watch t.v. except for Sesame Street anyway) knows all his body parts, he can follow instructions and give instructions, he talks and knows what he’s talking about clearly, his vocabulary is beyond expectations, knows the letters and numbers, plays like any normal 17 month, just advanced, he can jump with 2 feet off the ground, and can swing and climb very high (i can go on bragging like a 1st time mommy would) he’s a very active and healthy normal boy, we read to him every night and he’s now an active reader, meaning he participates when we read, and yes, he is the 1st child and so the stereotype of them getting more attention is true, and I do spend more time teaching and reading to him, but that should be for any child anyway ;)

definitely try the program, use the cards, read the books, its fun, you spend GREAT QUALITY time with them which some parents think they dont have 30 minutes to do. The videos do not babysit because you are actively participating when the video is on like when the word CLAP comes up you say clap and clap your hands with them… I recommend it to every child at any age after 3 months!

You don’t need the Starter DVD, but it helps a lot because it introduces the baby’s first sight words, and repeats them over and over in different contexts, color, font, with different images and voices saying the words. Check your local library to see if they have a copy.

You should try to go ahead and get the parent’s guide. You should show the video twice a day for 4-8 weeks generally.
