It was true in my case. My first son was 8 lbs 11oz. My second son was just under 10 pounds. But my third, my daughter, was my smallest at 8 lbs.

There is nothing you can do to change a baby’s weight. Don’t worry, you’ll do fine, labor is MUCH easier the second time around anyways, and its nto always the case that the second one is bigger anyways. Good luck!

It’s different for everyone. In my case it was true. There isn’t anything you can do to change it.

    6lb 15oz
    7lb 5oz

I don’t know that it is necessarily true about the second being larger. My brother and I were the exact same height and weight. I also know that my aunt had an 11 pound baby and her next was a normal 8. So, I don’t think that is true.

There is nothing that you can do about the babies birth weight…and honestly when you think about it for the health of your baby and not your vagina….it’s best that your baby be on the larger side so it has a fat reserve in case it gets sick or something.

So, be proud and don’t worry.

    Congratulations!!!!

In my case, that is false.
    My oldest daughter born 09/30/03 – 7Ibs14oz
    My youngest daughter born 12/08/06 – 7 Ibs 6oz

    My brother was 7 Ibs 9oz, and apparently I was 7Ibs 7oz.

    My step kids were,
    Boy – 8 pounds
    Boy – 5 Ibs 4.5 oz
    Girl – 6 Ibs 2 oz
    Girl – 7 pounds 0.5oz

They are ALL full term babies, including my brother and I. Actually my brother was 2.5 weeks over due.

it was not true in my case…my first was 7 lb 7 oz and my 2nd was 7 lb 1 oz but she was 1 week earlier. this baby is coming at 38 weeks like my 1st baby did and he’s only measuring to be 6 pounds 6 ounces on the ultrasound…a lot depends on how long you carry the baby..if you had your first at 40 weeks and your second at 38 chances are your second would be smaller.

It wasn’t true in my case. I’m sorry, I have to use kilos when talking about weight…

My first baby was a girl born 39 weeks 2 days and she was
    3 kilos 920 grams (8,7 pounds?)

My second baby was a boy born on exact same weeks and he was 3 kilos 620 grams (8 pounds?)

But on the other hand I was bigger than my older brother and was born 10 days before due date so…

I’ve heard that if you avoid sugar and fat in your diet, the baby won’t grow too big. It’s at least what they reccomend here in Finland to mothers who risk having a big baby…

    Good luck!

    not always true.
there is not much you can do, regarding the babys weight.
if you eat all sorts of junk food and never move around and eat eat eat, you may have a larger baby, but there are plenty of woman who do this and have the average 7 pound baby.

but there is plenty you can do for yourself.
stay as active as you dr allows, this is different for everywoman. walk, swim or other low stress or impact activities.
have a good healthy diet..diet being defined as what you consume on a regular daily basis…i.e. the diet of and herbavor is plants the diet of a carnivor is meat. i only elaborate to prevent anyone from misunderstanding.
lots of fruits and veggies and lean meats.
avoid the empty calories as much as possible (even though they are so tasty and in moderation are all right for most women)
and you will be stronger and healthy and more ready for labour when it comes, so if your new little one matches their big brother or exceeds him you will be ready for it.

and start your kegal exercises now, it will help you during and after labour.

my first a boy was 9 pounds even and 12 weeks now.
i am more active this time around and eating a bit better. so i hope that will play a role.
and i would rather have this one be ten punds and healthy then 5 or 6 and sick. but what mom wouldn’t.

I was my mom’s first born and weighed in at 9lbs, 4oz. and my brother was 10 lbs even… and with me, my first daughter’s weight at birth was 7lbs, 11oz, and i am only 32 weeks pregnant with my second daughter, and she is already weighing in at 5lbs, 3oz according to the ultrasound. they said she will be about 9 and a half at full term…
