This series is a good intro to the three letter words. Mig the Pig dances a jig and eats a fig. You can also purchase Pat the Cat and others in the same vein. These are easy readers designed to introduce pattern, rhyme and reading success.

I love these books! They are definitely pre-school appropriate and are some of the best books I have found thus far to teach a child to read. The book uses rhyming as its emphasis to teach young children word recognition. There is a small story that relates to one word that ends with "ig" on each page. When you flip the page there is a new letter in front of the "ig". Your child will learn the different sounds that each letter makes and how to spell out the words. Additionally, when you read the book every night (like we do) the words become repetitive and your child learns how to read words like pig, dig, big, twig, wig, etc. Get the entire series so your child can learn a multitude of different words!
