Grandparents can do many bonding activities with their grandchildren. One of the main activities includes reading. Reading with grandchildren leaves lasting memories for both the grandparent and the grandchildren. There are several tips that can be applied to ensure the time spent reading with a grandchild is fruitful and bonding takes place. These tips include choosing books wisely. Reading should be an enjoyable time to look forward to hence a library of favorite books should be established.
Choosing the right books is important in order to ensure the child does not get bored and always looks forward to reading time. Older children are able to point out their favorite authors or areas of interests. Accompanying a child to the library can enable the child to make their own decision on what book to read. Books from the local library that are interesting can be bought for the child as a gift. Adults and friends can also be asked to make recommendations on books they know are interesting to read out to children. Organizations also provide lists of various books that are good for children. A child who finds interesting books to read will enjoy the time of reading but one who does not will feel like it is a chore and will not look forward to spending time with their grandparent. It is therefore important that the child’s enjoy this time in order for bonding to happen naturally.
Ideally, grandparents should start reading to their grandchildren when they are still babies. This time can be spent in different ways from reciting a nursery rhyme to reading a simple book. The books can be upgraded as the child grows though in most cases reading to younger grandchildren requires reading a book repeatedly. Reading should be done in phases to allow time for interaction where the grandchild gets a chance to ask questions, which are always so many and interesting. The grandchild will also share what they think about the story and probably try to anticipate what happens next in the story.
Picture books are some of the best reading tools that easily facilitate bonding between many grandparents and their grandchildren. Talking to the grandchildren about the pictures helps them to visualize. The grandchild can then be asked to point out pictures while the grandparent reads to assess the grandchild’s coordination and understanding. With time the child can retell a particular story while pointing to the pictures.
A grandparent can effectively bond with their grandchild through reading by nurturing them to be readers. This can be done by setting regular time for reading either after dinner or before bedtime. The grandchildren should have access to other reading materials such as comic books, food labels, cookbooks, newspapers and magazines among many others. Being a role model is important and a grandparent should share any interesting aspects they learn from the books they are reading with their grandchildren. Grandchildren who grow up reading with their grandparents are likely to develop great affection and liking for them and in the process cultivate a culture of reading.

Getting Babies to Sleep Through the Night is sometimes difficult. Newborns can sleep around 15-19 hours per day, but they won’t do this all in one stretch. Their stomachs are small, so they still become hungry in the night until they are somewhere around six months.

1. Stable routineTry to find a stable routine and stick with it. Putting baby down at the same time each night and waking him at the same time each morning can go a long way towards promoting night time sleep. A good routine can consist of a bath, feeding, a book and then some time in the rocking chair or a quick pat to help him relax.

2. Try to feed your child more during the dayEven though your child will likely still wake during the night at least once, you can try to get him to eat more during the day so that most of his nutritional needs are met then, instead of during the night.

3. Relaxation before bedtimeBefore baby’s bedtime, keep noise and activity to a minimum and create some comfort rituals for him like reading a book or singing a quiet song.

If your baby is older six months he / she should be able to sleep through the night without breaks. If not then you probably make some mistakes

Many parents unknowingly set bad sleeping habits for their babies.

Bad sleeping habits

A bad habit can be something like cuddling your baby until it falls asleep in your arms and then putting them into the crib to sleep. If you do this often enough the baby will rely on your cuddling to get to sleep.

This is bad because when the baby wakes up at night, it won’t be able to fall back to sleep by itself, which means no sleep for you!

What to do:

1. The most effective way to get your baby to sleep properly is to start a pre-sleep routine.

2. If you leave and the baby cries, wait a few minutes before reassuring the baby and yourself that everything is ok. Gradually space out the time between these check ups if the crying continues. It can be hard to do, but this is the best way I’ve found on getting babies to sleep through the night.

Are you becoming resentful, angry, or frustrated? It is possible to change it.

Karel Micek is the owner of the site How To Entertain Kids – Here you can find some practical tips and ideas how to entertain your baby.

Getting your baby to sleep through the night can be one of the most difficult things to do as a new parent. Because every child is different, there is not one solution that can be used. However, there are a few good general tips that can be used while observing your baby’s specific temperaments that will help to figure out exactly what your baby needs. Since I know you don’t have too much time to read multiple pages of information, I will keep this straight and to the point. 1. Have a bedtime routine. I have found this to be very important. It is beneficial for the child because it will put them in the same state of mind every night before bed. Make sure it is something you are able to stick to. Maybe read a short book right before you place them in bed to get started. 2. Give them a security object.Let your child go to bed with a favorite blanket or stuffed animal. It will make them feel more secure while falling asleep or if they wake up during the night. When a baby wakes up in the night they have no sense of where they are, but if they have something that is familiar to them, they will be more comfortable and more than likely fall back asleep.3. Don’t rush in.If your child wakes up crying during the night, don’t rush in. I know this can be especially hard, but sometimes they will fall back asleep on their own and this will create further sleep independence.4. Be consistent. This is a biggie! If both parents do not follow the same techniques, nothing will ever change. It is important that both parents are on the same page when it comes to an action plan for your child. This holds true for anything relating to your child’s upbringing.

Couples having difficulty with financial management of all the necessary baby products have options; there are ways in which we can effectively budget our money with online bargains. My husband and I are planning to have a baby soon. We have been together for quite some time and we are yearning to have a little one running around the house. When our angel comes, I would like to be physically, emotionally, and financially ready. Regarding financial matters, I know it is not easy having children. I have consulted with my sisters about raising kids and they said that money is an important factor in being an effective parent. Exercising and reading books can remedy the physical and emotional part, but becoming financially ready is a little difficult to achieve. Since we are on a tight budget, because my husband has been laid off from work, it will be hard for us to buy things that the child will need. Now, I can say that we are not ready for a child because we do not have enough means to cater to the baby’s needs. I am the only one working for my family right now and my husband is still looking for a job. But our need for a child increases as the days pass by. Sometimes, we argue about things related to it and it is becoming an unhealthy habit for our marriage. So we did a major planning for baby and this is what we came up with. We are to cut down on all of our expenses. We came to a decision where only one mobile phone will be available for the both of us, minimum usage of the telephone should always be in reminder, no more home internet, and careful usage of electricity. I am proud of what we did but I was afraid that the high cost of baby products and maternity expenses nowadays will leave us short and we will not have enough for the three of us when the baby comes. We continue to search for more ways to budget what is coming in and my husband is trying his best to find a good job. I have searched the internet for strategies about this and I found out that there are online bargains for baby products. I don’t want the financial stress of having a baby come between our marriage any more so things like this will be a big help. I started finding baby bargains online and noticed that it is not an easy job so I let my husband do it while I work. He said he wanted the best deals so he went on searching for these bargains until we knew for sure it was the best deal on what we needed.

When you’re averaging a few hours a sleep a night due to a crying baby, you may be tempted to put him or her in bed next to you. Better sleep for you and the baby right? Seems like an easy decision to make. However, visions of rolling over your little one may make the choice a bit more complicated. In the difficult decision to either co-sleep (sleep with your baby) or put baby in his or her crib, what is the right thing to do? With parents on both sides of the crib of this heated debate, one thing is for sure-there are no easy answers. Parents should weigh in the pros and cons of sleeping with their baby and then decide what’s right for them and their little one. In this article, we will discuss the positives and negatives to sleeping with your baby so you can make an informed decision.
Let’s start with the negatives. Here are a few cons for sleeping with your baby:
1. Short-term solution may create a long-term problem. The Mayo Clinic says that “bed sharing” makes it difficult for babies to get to sleep on their own. So while you may be temporarily relieved to get your baby asleep quickly, you may have problems down the road with getting them comfortable in their crib.
2. Increase potential risks. Although the risk for Sudden Infant Syndrome or SIDS is controversial, the American Academy of Pediatrics suggests that parents avoid sleeping with their babies. In fact, they advise against having babies sleep in adult beds at all.
3. Decreased intimacy with partner. You might feel closer to baby but less so with your partner since you literary may be putting the baby in between you.
If you decide not to sleep with your baby but are still having trouble getting him or her to sleep, you can try other sleep strategies such as letting your baby cry him or herself to sleep, create a bedtime ritual or try the Ferber sleep method. This involves putting your baby to sleep while they are still up but sleepy. You can also put the crib right next to you to minimize the hassle of getting up and walking to the nursery.
Here are some of the positives for sharing your bed with baby:
1. Increased bonding time. Sleeping with your baby is a great way to spend time bonding with baby.
2. It’s Convenient. It is convenient to have baby near you especially when you are breastfeeding.
3. It is comforting for baby. Babies who sleep next to mothers may sleep more soundly and cry less.
If reading the pros of sleeping baby makes you want to try it, then remember to be as safe as you can by following these suggestions: make sure to baby on her or his back, do not drink alcohol or take medications that will make you drowsy, and put adequate barriers such as two adults and not pillows to prevent baby from falling off the bed.

Is your baby sleep schedule keeping the both of you up all night? Are you zombified and exhausted from lack of sleep? Getting baby to sleep through night time crying is the goal of every new mother, but not everyone knows how to do it. Get help right now, and sleep well starting tonight!
Whether you’re a first-time mom or an old pro, chances are you’ll encounter more than a few sleepless nights as your infant wakes up crying. Does she need to be fed? Does he need to be changed? Every baby’s needs are different, just as every single toddler is different in his or her own unique way. As a parent, it’s your job to understand this concept – it’s the key to both your happiness!
Standard baby sleep products and old wives tales aren’t enough to get your child on a solid, regimented baby sleep schedule. Remember that your son or daughter just spent the last several months in the warmth and comfort of your belly… he or she has no idea of the difference between day or night. Darkness and light are a brand new concept, and many mothers make the mistake of assuming that their newborn will inherently know when it’s time to lay down for the night and when it’s time to get up in the morning. Not so. Babies have to be taught these things, and the best training you can give them will include a set schedule that you both must adhere to. The further you stray from this routine, the harder it’s going to be for your child to fall into a set sleeping pattern.
Keeping your child up all day is another mistake many new parents try to make, thinking this will help in getting baby to sleep through night. The problem with this approach is simple: babies need much more sleep than you do. Very often it’s not a matter of the quantity of sleep they get, but the quality and timing of the sleep that’s important. Choose nap times for your child that are best suited to your own schedule, then strongly adhere to them. Infants love routine and resist change – you’re going to make your child unhappy by breaking that baby sleep schedule just to show him or her off to your friends, family and so on. And when your toddler is screaming at midnight, you’re going to make yourself unhappy too.
The Baby Sleep Solution is an amazing guide for the many aspects of this common problem. The techniques and tips within are designed to help you identify which type of sleep category your child falls into, and then gives customized guidelines as to how to get baby to sleep at night. Within you’ll learn quick solutions that you can begin applying as early as tonight – solutions that will allow your child to fall asleep on his or her own. This type of sleep is proven to be more restful than just letting an infant cry itself out.
This guide also details almost two dozen individualized techniques that can be applied toward achieving your ultimate goal: enjoying a restful, peaceful night. By following these methods your baby will sleep straight on through the night, evening after evening, guaranteed. Join the thousands of relieved parents who have already taken advantage of this great program, and who already enjoy sleeping undisturbed.

The early years of parenting are the most difficult and trickiest part in any parents’ life. It is the most important too, as the bonding that occurs between parent and child at these early stages play a crucial role in the relationship for years to follow. Understanding your infants’ needs can be most frustrating, as crying is just about the only communicational skill an infant is capable of, until they learn to speak. The art of interpreting their wails and moans and figuring out their needs can be very difficult and complicated.

Babies attempt communication as early as their fetal stages. A return kick to a tummy rub, a punch to a loud song, these are the earliest forms of communication. Until about four months after birth, their communication consists mainly of reflexive crying to express themselves. At this stage, reacting to crying is extremely important and the best strategy is to understanding their cries and expressing the desired response. Showing interest and attending to the baby’s needs shows that the communication is working and builds the attachment and trust between you and your child. Parenting can be more enjoyable when positive parent – child relationship is established. Good communication is the key to building self-esteem as well a mutual respect.

This communication can go a step further, with the help of baby sign language, where your infant actively participate in making coherent expressions of their needs. Teaching your infant to sign their needs at an early age before they learn coordinated speech will help reduce frustration for both you and your child. Research by Joseph Garcia, an American Sign interpreter and a leading proponent of use of ASL as the basis for Baby Sign, indicates that babies who are exposed to signs regularly and consistently at six to seven months of age can begin using signs effectively by the eighth or ninth month.”

Infants lack the cognitive ability to coordinate their lips, tongue, brain, breath, and vocal chords simultaneously, i.e. they lack the motor skills to speak. But hand-eye coordination is possible in advance of the acquisition of verbal skills. Infants can learn to express their needs using simple signs for common words such as “eat”, “sleep”, “more”, “hug”, “play”, “cookie”, “teddy bear”, etc., before they are able to produce understandable speech – Amazing but true. If you can master the skills, and teach your baby to express himself through ‘signing,’ it can bridge the gap between you and your infants’ world. The end result? Contentment and peace of mind for both of you.

Teaching and using baby sign language consistently with your hearing baby can hold many other rewards.

·	Helps accelerate baby’s verbal language skills earlier than usual

·	Helps enhance baby’s receptive and expressive vocabulary

·	Helps them learn to read more easily as a child

·	Enhances their creative ability

·	Results in a higher IQ by 10-12 points

·	Promotes a better child/parent bond

There has been significant research on the benefits of Baby Signs, including its application on children with special needs and development delays. Some of this research indicate that children who have been taught Baby Signs have achieved early vocabularies and have had improved cognitive and communication skills throughout childhood. Baby signs are highly recommended by childhood educators, speech pathologists and child psychologists to help enhance the early stages of a child’s development and for a better parent child relationship.

The KinderSigns American Sign Language for babies Career Kit will help you with your BABY or better yet turn you into an ENTREPRENUER; you will love the benefits of communicating with your baby or starting a home business of your own to help other moms in your community.
